Berlin Diary in Tokyo
My piano piece “Berlin Diary” will be performed in Japan for the first time!
Yoriko Ikeya, an excellent interpreter of new music, will play the complete work in the music hall of Keio University.
I will talk about my life as a composer and, in particular, about my experiences during the fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989.
Today, we are used to being informed about events from all over the world at lightning speed – with live broadcasts, and constant media coverage. But the things you experience yourself appear in a completely different light. Such experiences are neither objective nor neutral, but deeply subjective and emotional.
Perhaps that is precisely why I composed this “Berlin Diary.”
