Ursula Mamlok

The Berlin composer Ursula Mamlok would have turned 100 this year. It is remarkable that music journalist Bettina Brand managed to organize a series of events with her compositions. There were documentary films about Mamlok and performances of her symphonic works. My own little contribution is called “Alusrursula” for bassoon solo. Ursula Mamlok had a sense of humor, so I jumbled her name and spread it across my composition. The piece won first prize at the International Female Composers Competition in 2020. Annette Winker, a bassoonist from Freiburg, performed a brilliant premiere during the award ceremony concert.
