MUGI

MUGI means wheat or barley in Japanese. But here, MUGI stands for music outreach and gender research encyclopedia and multimedia presentations. (A project by Music Outreach and Gender Research on the Internet). So it is a digital encyclopedia of female composers.

In Japan, MUGI is a symbol of resilient, useful plants, and by transfer of meaning, also of people. I don’t know whether the work of female composers will be perceived in the same way. There is still a lot of work to be done.

Musicologist Imke Misch has compiled my compositional approach, list of works, and career history. Since I am still alive and continue to produce, my biography, list of works, and performance list cannot be complete. Nevertheless, I believe her entry can be very useful for getting to know my work.
