The Yamanote-line in Tokyo
In Tokyo, short melodies on the platforms, specially at the Yamanote-line inform passengers whether a train is arriving, what the station’s name is, or that they should step away from the train because it is about to depart. These are lively melodies that stick in passengers’ minds and that everyone—young or old, foreigner or Japanese—can easily follow. Even after I returned to Berlin from Tokyo, these melodies continued to echo in my ears for a long time. A musical souvenir from Tokyo.
We’ll experience how the piano duo Bauerecker and Stöber from Cologne will bring Tokyo’s train stations to life.
